Sample Answer 1:

I would like to say one of the most well-known paintings in the world would be an object I think is beautiful, which is also my personal favorite, "The Birth of Venus." by Sandra Botticelli. I first saw it when I was travelling in Italy with my family. I thought it looked very impressive.

A couple of years ago, I was fortunate enough to visit Florence in Italy. When I was there, I spent a day exploring the Uffizi Gallery, which has one of the best art collections in the world. I walked around the whole gallery and took in thousands of paintings and sculptures, but I suppose the one that really captured my imagination was the painting "The Birth of Venus."

This is a large oil painting dating from, I think, the 15th century. It is one of the world's most famous paintings and is considered an icon of the Italian  renaissance. Although it is an Italian painting, the subject matter is Greek mythology. The nude female figure at the center of the painting is Venus, a goddess worshipped by the ancient Greeks. She is riding a giant scallop shell, which is what makes the scene so unusual and memorable. The painting is not very realistic, of course, this was before artists began trying to capture perspective and light as they appear in reality.

I like this painting because it is captivating when you look at it you are drawn into the painting and you feel curious about the central character. It makes you wonder where she is going and what will happen, as well as the significance of the various objects and people around her. Like many great paintings, I could sit and marvel at this all day.

Sample Answer 2:

Alright. You know, China is a country with a splendid history, so there're lots of traditional items that look really exquisite. And now I'd like to describe a teapot my family has that I found particularly beautiful.

I vaguely remember, in a Sunday afternoon, my father took me to an outdoor market that sells antiques and home decorations. This teapot immediately hooked my dad's attention. It's really eye-catching with its blue and white patterns, and when we took a closer look, we delightfully found out that it's patterned with a picture of Chinese traditional landscape, you know, with rolling hills and a wooden bridge. It's not teapot but an artwork! That's basically why I found it so beautiful, so did my father. He asked the owner how much it would cost, and it was charged 800 yuan, which was a bit expensive but still acceptable to him, so he got it home.

I don't exactly know how it was made, but i do know that it's made of porcelain, which makes it easy to break. But that's also part of the reason why it looks so delicate and elegant. Now it's still in a great condition in my home cuz my mom's been taking good care of it, polishing it once in a while. To sum up, it's more decorative than functional, and it's definitely the most eye- pleasing item in my home.

Part 3

Question: Do you think there are more beautiful things now than in the past? Why?

此题为今夕对比类题型,要注意时态的转换。往往可以从科技的进步和经济的发展等角度拓展原因。

Sample Answer:

Yes I guess that's true. We have sooo many more technologies and new techniques that enable us to create beautiful things, I mean, even computers are able to make creative artworks nowadays. In the past, however, due to economic hardships, most people in my country were struggling with making a living, so they didn't really have the condition to engage in artistic activities and create beautiful things.

Question: What beautiful scenery spots are there in your country?

解题思路:

此题为例举类题型,需要给出多个答案,如不同类型的自然景点:山川、河流、海洋、沙漠·要注意题目中的关键词为scenery·spots,因此答案需要和自然景观相关。

Sample Answer:

I think China is well-known for its marvelous landscapes so there're countless natural scenic spots, like Zhangjiajie, where visitors get to appreciate towering mountains and rocks in unique shapes. There're also rivers and lakes, such as Qinghai lake, the biggest freshwater lake in China. In the western region, we'll see vast desert landscape, which is also quite impressive.

Question: Where do you think people usually come into contact with beautiful things?

解题思路:

此题为事实类提问,可以从人文( 博物馆 ) 和自然( 大自然 ) 两个角度切。

Sample Answer:

The first place I can associate with is the museum. It's a place that houses important things, especially things with aesthetic value, like antiques, paintings, and vases. In addition to that, people can also appreciate gorgeous things in nature. Say you're in the countryside, there's no pollution or foggy weather, and that means beautiful rolling hills and miles of farmland.

Question: Why do you think people create beautiful things?

解题思路:

此题为原因类题型。内容较为抽象,建议可以通过举例方式具体化拓展。

Sample Answer:

That's because we have spiritual needs and beautiful items can help us express ourselves in a spiritual way. Beauty is something we crave for by nature. It brings joy and satisfaction, and even give us a sense of eternity. Let's take painting for example, by creating a masterpiece, the painter is able to leave his legacy behind and make it timeless.
